Mitsubishi L75-A91 75-Inch 1080p LaserVue HDTV Review
Mitsubishi L75-A91 75-Inch 1080p LaserVue HDTV Feature
- Mitsubishi Exclusive Laser Light Engine
- StreamTV Internet Media
- Cinema Color. 3D Ready
- Plush 1080p 5G 12-Bit Digital Video Processing
When Mitsubishi introduced their 65″ version of this set, my husband fell in love. We first saw it at a Los Angeles showroom a year ago, and I had a very hard time dragging him out the door. The minute we got home to Florida, he started tracking the information being provided on the “soon to be introduced” 75″ version. First, it would be by Christmas, then spring. Finally, Mitsubishi introduced it in August – a long wait, but well worth it.
I’m not a techie, so can’t begin to elaborate on the amazing features of this awesome HDTV, but if you are looking for a really big screen television, with 3-D like clarity (it is 3D ready) don’t hesitate to buy this set. It will make your home the center of football season, with or without the popcorn and beer!
The folks at Amazon were very helpful – I think we may have placed the first order for the Mitsubishi L75-A91 that they received. Their “white glove” delivery service was exactly what they said it would be. It took 2 burly (but polite) guys to carry in this set, take it out of the box, and plug it in, and they did so exactly within the time-frame we requested at the time we placed our order. Our hat’s are off to Amazon – this was definitely the biggest online purchase we ever made, but it went smoothly, without a hitch. And I have a very happy husband!
The only “con” that I can think of is that this dlp HDTV is 15″ deep, and weighs about 150 pounds, so you can’t hang it on the wall. If having a wall-hung TV is more important to you than the picture quality, you’ll need to look at a different product. For us, the picture quality, and the fact that our last Mitsubishi lasted 15 years (we just gave it away to make room for this big guy) made this purchase worth the money.

- Plush1080p 5G 12-Bit video processing converts lower-resolution signals to 1080p to eliminate jagged pixelated imagery.

- Easy Connect function automatically recognizes when you plug in a device and prompts you to assign a name to it. The TV ignores any unused inputs, so the result is an uncluttered menu where you can easily find and select connected devices by name.
- Two USB ports enable you to play MP3 music and JPEG photo slideshows on this HDTV (one port provides accessory power only).

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.
If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.
- Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
- Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

Philips 40PFL5705D/F7 40-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LCD HDTV with NetTV, Black Review
Philips 40PFL5705D/F7 40-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LCD HDTV with NetTV, Black Feature
- 4 HDMI inputs
- 240Hz Clear LCD
- NetTV
- Pixel Precise HD
- Energy Star 4.0
The 5705 is the best of my 5505 model, with now wifi for streaming movies. I purchased the 5505 model of this phillips tv (without the wifi) about 1 month ago, and so far love it. For comparision, I own a Panasonic Viera th-50pz80U (480hz 1080p)that I bought 2 years ago, and my brother owns the newer g10 50 inch 600hz panasonic, and this phillips is as nice as those two Plasma TVs. Upsides of this tv, LCD, more durable as far as moving around. Plasma tvs are still glass and need to be kept upright, never to be placed on their face. this can be moved more. It is brighter than the plasma TV at baseline. Colors pop without haveing to put the TV into a brighter mode as I have done before on my plasma. there is no burn in or streeking as with the plasmas if not taken care of. I have not had a problem with the panasonics, but on rare occasion on pause I will see a little burn in that will fade on my plasma. I think that the speed of the TV, 240hz, has made it comparable to my plasma for everyday movies. This has a digital motion program built in the set which can be turned off and on. For regular movies and TV, I turn it off. On animated movies, wow, i think this TV beats my plasma. The draw back with the digital motion is that it looks really choppy in movies with a lot of action, like car chases . It does funny things with the people on the screen as well. If it is focused on a character, it almost feels as if they were standing there in the room. It looses the warmth and depth in background, and again seems choppy when the focus person or object moves, and looks really processed (like a computer straining to keep up with rate) if the background moves. Regular movies and sports, I love my Plasma TV. This Philips 5505 model does not have Wifi built in for net flix, but the 5705 model does. This one runs a bit cheaper, and as a second nice tv for the bedroom, this works well and is a great value for the speed and size. Only a few of the upper models from sony and LG have 240 hz LCD/LED tvs, and those models will cost you quite a bit more for a comparable TV. The Cheapest i saw the Sony was around 00 for a 40 inch. For LCD tvs, this one is great, and the digital motion can be turned off which is a nice feature. As a final note, my friend sprung for a samsung 46 inch 120hz model, and spent considerably more, and this toast it all around. again with the samsung as with most LED tvs, they over process the image and it looks choppy and unnatural. That is why i like the fact I can turn on and off the Digital motion feature. Check this TV out, great value and performance.
UPDATE: Other questions that have come up
The picture on the net are tough to see what the tv looks like
The Bezel is a glossy bezel, reflective
The screen is essentially flat. I note a small reflection when the tv is off, but there is no reflection when the tv is on, and i can tell you my plasma tv that is one draw back, the reflection on bright days. in looking at the other lcd/led tvs on the market, this is the same as most of them these days. My friends Samsung 46″ 650 model has an actual plastic protective cover over the LCD screen which does reflect, that was a shock. the non reflective front is one of the advantages of any LCD/LED tv
Mesurments 26 1/2 tall, 9 3/4 at base, tv 3 3/4 thick, 39 across horizonal, corner to corner at 40″ screen, almost 43 corner of bezel to corner of bezel.
Finally, LCD/LED tvs run much cooler than plasma tvs, so this tv is much cooler and nicer in my room than my plasma would be.
One final note. Depending upon if you want Net capability for streeming videos from the internet eg, netflixs, or blockbuster streeming vidio, the 5705 model online here at amazon is only a few dollars more. I got my tv at a warehouse retailer for less than the current price today on sale, so this model was a no brainer, and I don’t really care about the net capability because various blu-ray players have that capability as well. so if you want a stand alone tv and you plan to get a blu ray player, net capapble doesn’t matter. if you have limited space and watch all your movies offline, then the 5705 model would be worth the investment. hope this helps

Mitsubishi LT-46153 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Integrated Sound Projector, Black Review
Mitsubishi LT-46153 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Integrated Sound Projector, Black Feature
- 16 Speaker – Integrated Sound Projector
- UltraThin Frame
- Variable Smooth 120 Hz Film Motion
- Clear Contrast Panel
- Wide Color GamutCCFL Backlight
I bought this set from a local dealer. I’ve been looking at the new 240Hz sets along with the more common 120Hz. Mitsubishi seems more or less disinterested in the numbers game, as they aren’t emphasizing the refresh rate (120Hz), contrast ratio, or other specs that seem to dominate LCD TV marketing. Although the specs can tell you much about a display, the proof is in the actual viewing experience. That’s where this model really impressed me.
Using the ‘Natural’ display preset actually produces a very natural image in color, contrast and brightness. The color balance is excellent. Color gradients are flawless, with no visible banding. The picture is incredibly sharp – given the right source. This set really shows its quality with Blu-ray video; detail is fantastic and motion is smooth with no visible blurring. This is also true of sports broadcasts in HD.
Mitsubishi emphasizes the integrated surround sound system on their web site. It’s a nice feature if you don’t have a separate surround sound amp. However, if you hope to get the surround effect, take a look at the diagrams in the online version of the owner’s manual. (It’s more complete than the printed one.) Since my room isn’t rectangular, I couldn’t really test the ’sound projection’ capabilities. You can connect and external sub-woofer too, which I did not attempt.
Connectivity is good, with 4 HDMI inputs, and two component/composite inputs. A USB port is a nice feature, as you can connect a flash drive or other storage device, and play back digital files directly. (I haven’t had a chance to test this thoroughly yet.) A digital audio output should come in handy for routing audio back to my surround sound receiver from the antenna input.
The design is understated, with an all black cabinet. The logos aren’t huge, and they don’t light up or anything. I particularly like the narrow (less than 1″) bezel. On the stand, I have just enough room for my center speaker, which is about 4.5″ high, to sit in front of the set. I’m still getting accustomed to the glossy screen, and was a bit wary of it before I made my purchase. My viewing room has a large window opposite the TV, and the reflection is a problem. However, the nature of a matte finish screen tends to reduce the sharpness of the image, so I opted for a better picture.
The remote is ‘activity based’ and capable of controlling other devices through the usual code entry, or via HDMI control of CEC devices. The button array is pretty basic, so you may end up using a different universal remote, or individual remotes. I haven’t programmed the included remote, as I use a Logitech Harmony One instead.
This TV doesn’t have some of the ‘features’ other manufacturers are throwing in these days. But honestly, I don’t need network connectivity, kid’s features or recipes on my TV. The Energy Star rating is another plus, and something that’s becoming fairly common. If you’re looking for a high-quality LCD TV that you’ll enjoy for years, take a look at this unit. I find it to be truly impressive.
